Auburn received some big news ahead of the start of the Corvallis Super Regional Saturday evening.

Prior to Game 1 against Oregon State, the Beavers revealed their starting lineup against the Tigers. With that announcement, Oregon State revealed starting pitcher and team ace Cooper Hjerpe was scratched from the start with an undisclosed illness.

With the lefty sidelined, Jake Pfennigs will get the start against Auburn:

Hjerpe did come out of the bullpen on Monday vs. Vanderbilt in regional action. He threw 36 pitches over 2 shutout innings to close out the win, but Hjerpe was expected to be available to open the Super Regional.

Hjerpe went 10-2 over 17 games (16 appearances) with a 2.40 ERA and 155 strikeouts in 97.2 innings pitched. That works out to 14.28 strikeouts per 9 innings with a 0.87 WHIP.

Hopefully Auburn is able to take advantage against Pfennigs and get out to a hot start in the Super Regional.
