A Texas A&M player set to appear at SEC Media Days is facing DWI and weapons charges, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle.

Ainias Smith was arrested Wednesday on charges DWI, unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana, according to Brazos County (Texas) Jail records, 247Sports reported.

Smith last season led the Aggies with 47 catches and 6 touchdowns. He also was the best punt returner in the SEC with 11.3 yards per return including a 95 yarder against South Carolina.

In his first 3 seasons in College Station, Smith has 1,321 receiving yards, 373 rushing yards and and 19 total touchdowns. Smith considered the NFL Draft last season, but after he finished second on the team, behind only star TE Jalen Wydermyer, with 509 receiving yards, Smith decided to return to College Station.

Look for Jimbo Fisher to address this issue from the podium on Thursday when the Aggies are among the teams to be featured in Atlanta at SEC Media Days. It’s unclear if the Aggies will replace Smith with a player to represent the Aggies alongside Demani Richardson, a senior defensive back, and Layden Robinson, a junior offensive lineman.
