Mike Pratt has been part of Kentucky basketball since 1967. On Friday, many luminaries from the program celebrated his life.

Pratt died June 16 after a three-year battle with colon cancer.

He played for the Wildcats from 1967-1970, scoring 1,359 points in his career that included making All-America and All-SEC teams. Pratt began doing color commentary for the radio broadcasts for Kentucky basketball in 2001.

Pratt was inducted into the UK Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.

Coach John Calipari was among the speakers at the ceremony.

“We always got the best of Mike Pratt… Mike climbed the ladder of success, and he picked up the next person. All of us need to think about that,” Calipari said, and added that he remained a connection to the program as he moved into the color commentary role.

Former Kentucky great Dan Issel believes it’s time his teammate’s name is hung in the rafters at Rupp Arena.

The program’s official Twitter account released a tribute video of him Friday.
