Mark Stoops is coming off of a 10-3 season as he and the Wildcats enter their 10th season together while the coach looks to reach a milestone in Lexington.

Stoops has a a 59-53 record in 9 seasons with UK, and he’s expected to reach Bear Bryant’s 60-win mark at UK early this season. While there are road games at Florida and Ole Miss, many analysts and pundits have circled the Nov. 19 game against Georgia in Lexington as a possible upset choice. The Wildcats are projected by ESPN’s Football Power Index to win 8.2 games, but several, from Georgia to Tennessee to those early road games, can make or break their season.

To get back to a 10-win season, UK would need win all of those toss-up games, but regardless, Stoops should be applauded for already collecting a pair of 10-win seasons, in 2018 and last season.

Much of the national attention this season will be on Will Levis as a dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate, and appealing prospects for the NFL Draft. Levis and the Wildcats, with a new offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello, will look to replicate the success UK found under former OC Liam Coen, who left in the offseason to become the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams.
