Vanderbilt got one vote in the SEC preseason poll in July.

The Commodores have struggled so greatly in the past that everyone immediately knew what it meant. It was bait, and nothing more. Vanderbilt has won just 5 games over the past 3 seasons, downing Colorado State and Connecticut last season to finish 2-10.

This year, ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) has the Commodores favorited to win just one game in Week 2 against Elon. Winnable matchups against Northern Illinois and Hawaii ranked as Vanderbilt’s most likely W’s after that.
