McConaughey is UT Austin’s self-proclaimed “Minister of Culture.” He is also listed as university faculty as a professor of practice in the communications college’s department of radio, television and film.
McConaughey, an Oscar-winning actor, is also one of the most prominent supporters of Texas Longhorn athletics. In early 2021, McConaughey appeared on Stephen A. Smith’s ESPN+ show to share his thoughts on the hiring of Steve Sarkisian.
In July 2021, McConaughey shared his excitement for Texas to join the SEC. With the Horns on the move and no sign of retirement in Nick Saban’s future, we may get more McConaughey-Saban calls from Mulinaro.
