Current Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin sent Raiders field goal kicker Sebastian Janikowski out to attempt a 76-yard field goal on this day roughly 14 years ago.

It couldn’t have been a worse miss and Kiffin was fired from his head coaching position with the team by then-Raiders owner Al Davis just two days after that. Needless to say, it wasn’t a bright time for Kiffin there but he can certainly look back on it and make light of it with a little humor (as he often does on Twitter).

Kiffin took to Twitter on Wednesday, quote tweeting the memory.

“Happy Anniversary Seabass! Wish I would have had my analytics book back then,” he wrote.

Obviously that’s well in the past now and Kiffin has got a good thing going in Oxford with the Rebels, who won 10 games last season and head into Week 5 of this season with a perfect 4-0 record.

Kiffin’s team is set to take on the No. 7-ranked Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at 11 a.m. CT.
