Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers battled No. 5 Tennessee close for 2+ quarters on Saturday in Knoxville.

Early in the third quarter, the Tigers scored to cut the Vols’ lead to 28-24. From that point on, though, the Vols scored 38 unanswered points, cruising to a massive 66-24 win over Mizzou.

It was another setback for the Tigers and Drinkwitz, who now must beat New Mexico State and Arkansas to close out the regular season to reach bowl eligibility.

Here’s what Drinkwitz had to say about the Tigers’ performance on Saturday:

On late touchdowns by Tennessee to run up the score:

On moving forward from this lopsided loss:

On defensive errors leading to big plays by the Vols:

Mizzou has a chance to bounce back next weekend at Faurot Field against New Mexico State. Then, to close out the regular season, the Tigers play Arkansas in a game that could decide bowl eligibility for both teams.
