Grant Williams, currently in his 3rd season with the Boston Celtics, is ringing the bell for his alma mater ahead of the College Football Playoff’s Selection Day.

The former Tennessee standout and 2-time SEC Player of the Year watched as Nos. 3 and 4 in the CFP rankings fell during championship weekend. Fourth-ranked USC was rocked by Utah 47-24 in the Pac-12 Championship in Las Vegas on Friday before Kansas State needed overtime to knock off No. 3 TCU in the Big 12 Championship in Arlington on Saturday. No. 1 Georgia is currently playing No. 14 LSU in the SEC Championship in Atlanta while No. 2 Michigan will face unranked Purdue in the B1G Championship in Indianapolis.

Williams feels that the Horned Frogs still deserve to get in at No. 3 after their close loss to the Wildcats while foreseeing a scenario where Ohio State went to No. 4 in place of USC. That said, if it’s not TCU at 3, then he feels that Tennessee deserves to get in over Alabama:

Both Alabama and Tennessee have 2 losses, with the Crimson Tide losing to the Volunteers and LSU, and the Vols dropping games to Georgia and South Carolina. Will the playoff committee pull off a stunner and slide the Vols or Tide into the top 4 on Sunday?
