Florida entered Wednesday’s game against Tennessee coming off a blowout loss to No. 5 Kansas State on the road. This time, the Gators flipped the script and pulled off the upset against the Vols.

Tennessee was fresh off rising to No. 2 in the country on the latest AP Poll, but it was Florida that dialed up a huge defensive effort Wednesday night. The Gators held Tennessee to 54 points in the 67-54 upset while the Vols shot just 27.9% from the field and 5-for-25 from deep.

On the flip side, Florida shot 43.8% from the field with Colin Castleton leading all scorers with 20 points. He added 9 rebounds, 3 assists and a block while Kyle Lofton chipped in 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

Zakai Zeigler led the Vols with 15 points and shot 3-of-9 from 3-point range in the loss. Unfortunately, the rest of the Vols went just 2-for-16 from deep.

While the loss is just Tennessee’s second in SEC play, it will be a tough one to swallow after a disappointing offensive showing against the Gators. Meanwhile, Florida notches a signature win in the middle of a tough stretch of opponents.
