Former Texas A&M quarterback joins Houston Texans coaching staff, per report
Former Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson has reportedly been hired as the QB coach for the Houston Texans.
That’s according to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. As he notes, Johnson is from the Houston area so this will be a homecoming of sorts for the former Aggie.
The #Texans are hiring Jerrod Johnson as QBs coach, sources say. The Houston native, an #Eagles undrafted free agent as a player, is on the rise as a coach and takes a step up after serving as the #Vikings’ assistant QBs coach this past season.

This will be Johnson’s 1st on-field coaching role. He was the assistant QB coach for the Minnesota Vikings in 2022. Prior to having that job, Johnson was an offensive quality control coach for the Indianapolis Colts for 2 seasons.
Johnson played for Texas A&M from 2006-10. He threw for 8,011 yards and 67 touchdowns during his time with the Aggies, with the majority of that production coming from 2008-10.
During Johnson’s best season (2009) in College Station, he threw for 3,579 yards and 30 touchdowns. He went undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft but had a professional career until 2016.
Johnson attended Humble High School before moving on to Texas A&M.
