Former Florida DB Chauncey “C.J.” Gardner-Johnson’s Philadelphia Eagles came out on the losing end of Super Bowl LVII against the Kansas City Chiefs. The loss now stings even more for Gardner-Johnson, as he is being fined for a hit he made during the game.

Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reports Gardner-Johnson has been fined $14,111 for lowering his head to initiate contact. Gardner-Johnson’s agent indicated they plan to appeal the fine for the hit that was not flagged during the game.

Gardner-Johnson questioned the fine on Twitter.

Gardner-Johnson is entering his fifth NFL season in 2023. After spending his first 3 seasons with the New Orleans Saints, he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles on Aug. 30, 2022. Gardner-Johnson recorded a career-high 6 interceptions during the 2022 regular season, helping the Eagles secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC and make the Super Bowl.
