AJ McCarron is off to a phenomenal start in the XFL.

The former Alabama star led his St. Louis BattleHawks to a dramatic win on Sunday afternoon. He threw a game-winning touchdown pass with just 16 seconds remaining.

After the game, McCarron gave an emotional interview about his family to ESPN’s Eric Mac Lain.

Mac Lain asked McCarron about the opportunity to play in front of his 2 sons in the XFL. McCarron, who played for the Crimson Tide from 2010-13, struggled to put his feelings into words.

Here’s that clip:

McCarron, a former 5th round pick, has been out of pro football since 2021. He last appeared on an NFL roster for the Atlanta Falcons. He tore his ACL in the preseason of that 2021 campaign, effectively ending his NFL career.

He finished his XFL debut with 190 yards and 2 touchdowns.
