LSU basketball added a major player to its 2023-24 roster on Wednesday afternoon.

Former Vanderbilt guard Jordan Wright has committed to the Tigers.

Here’s his announcement:

Wright is a significant addition for Matt McMahon and the Tigers. Last season for Vanderbilt, Wright scored 10 points per game and also contributed 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest this season.

He figures to provide a significant lift for a LSU team that struggled mightily in Year 1 under McMahon. Only one player on the Tigers last season averaged at least 10 points and 5 rebounds per game.

As a team, LSU never got going last season. The Tigers finished the year with a 14-19 record overall and a 2-16 mark in SEC play.

Looking ahead to next season, Wright’s addition is a big reason for optimism with the program. LSU is also bringing in a pair of highly-touted prospects in its 2023 recruiting class. The Tigers are expected to remain active in the transfer portal over the next few weeks.

Wright is originally from Baton Rouge. He has 1 year of eligibility remaining.
