Alabama cornerback Jahquez Robinson is entering the transfer portal, he announced late Tuesday night.

Robinson was a 4-star prospect in Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class. He spent 3 seasons with the Crimson Tide.

Here’s his announcement:

Despite his high prospect pedigree, Robinson never carved out a consistent role on Alabama’s defense. He didn’t record any statistics in 2020 or 2021. Last season, he was credited with 2 tackles and 0.5 sacks. Most of his contributions last season came on special teams.

He was the No. 296 overall player and the No. 21 cornerback in the country for the class of 2021, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s from Jacksonville, Fla.

It’s possible Alabama will look to replace Robinson in the transfer portal this spring. However, the Crimson Tide have not been as aggressive in adding via the portal this offseason. They have made just 2 additions so far: linebacker Trezmen Marshall and tight end CJ Dippre.

Robinson will have 3 years of eligibility at his next destination.
