Tennessee has lost a second player in the last couple of days to the portal. This time it was a WR.

Nigel Lanier was a member of the 2021 class who was unrated as a recruit per the 247Sports Composite. Lanier decided that it was time to move on from Rocky Top. DB Cameron Miller also entered the portal recently.

Here’s what Lanier had to say about his time in Knoxville:

“I want to say thank you to all the coaches at the University of Tennessee for giving me the opportunity to play here at the next level and pushing me to be the best player I can be. I want to say thank to Vol nation for making my experience here better than I ever could have imagined it to be and with that being said I will be entering the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility.”

Lanier enters the portal three years of eligibility left. He did not record any stats while at Tennessee.

Tennessee, Erskine College, Presbyterian, and Miles College were the only programs to offer Lanier out of high school. Lanier is a native of Stevenson, Alabama.

The deadline to enter the portal was on Sunday, so Lanier may have joined it on Sunday evening before going public with the information on Monday.
