Georgia softball is moving on to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Bulldogs defeated Virginia Tech 12-3 on Sunday afternoon, sweeping the Athens regional in the process. No. 14 Georgia will be 1 of 16 teams who advance to Super Regionals next weekend.

Sydney Chambley led the Bulldogs all weekend, including the regional final. Chambley hit a pair of home runs on the day, giving her 4 during the Athens regional.

Shelby Walters pitched 6 dominant innings in the run-rule win. She scattered 5 hits and 3 runs while striking out 5 batters in the victory.

Georgia will face the winner of the Tallahassee regional in the next round. Florida State and South Carolina are playing in a winner-take-all game in that regional. If South Carolina pulls off the upset, Georgia will host the Gamecocks in the Supers.

This is Georgia’s first Super Regional appearance since 2021.
