Kentucky has added former Wake Forest linebacker Jaquez Keyes as a walk-on running back for the 2023 season.

The program announced the transfer on Wednesday morning. Keyes entered the portal late last month.

Keyes was part of Wake Forest’s 2023 recruiting class and is set to begin his true freshman season. Originally listed as a running back, Keyes signed with the Demon Deacons as a linebacker.

He is an excellent late addition to UK’s roster, especially as a walk-on. Keyes, a 3-star prospect, was the No. 733 overall player and the No. 53 running back in the country for the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

He was also the No. 24 player from the state of Ohio. Keyes attended Ironton High School in Ironton, Ohio.

Keyes also brings additional depth to the running back position. The Wildcats also have players like Ray Davis, JuTahn McClain, Ramon Jefferson and Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, amongst others.

Kentucky’s regular season win total currently sits at 7. If you want to get in on the action, here’s a DraftKings Kentucky promo code.

Kentucky will open the 2023 season against Ball State on Sept. 2.
