CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm released his final preseason bowl projections for 2014, and it includes 10 SEC teams.

From the SEC, Alabama is projected in the College Football Playoff to play Oregon, while Florida State and Oklahoma State are projected to play in the other semifinal game.

Here’s Palm’s preseason projections:

College Football Playoff
Sugar Bowl: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Oregon
Rose Bowl: No. 2 Florida State vs. No. 3 Oklahoma

Selection Committee Bowl Games
Cotton Bowl: Georgia vs. UCLA
Orange Bowl: Auburn vs. Clemson
Peach Bowl: South Carolina vs. Cincinnati

Other Bowl Games
TaxSlayer Bowl: Florida vs. Michigan
Outback Bowl: Texas A&M vs. Nebraska
Capital One Bowl: LSU vs. Michigan State
Music City Bowl: Missouri vs. Louisville
Belk Bowl: Mississippi State vs. Duke
Liberty Bowl: Ole Miss vs. TCU

Not projected to go bowling:

  • Arkansas
  • Kentucky
  • Tennessee
  • Vanderbilt

Takeaways:

  • Most outlets project 10 or 11 SEC teams go make bowl games, and Tennessee is usually the swing vote. In this case, Palm doesn’t think Tennessee wins six games, and right now, that’s probably a safe bet, knowing the brutal schedule in the midst of a rebuilding program.
  • Vanderbilt’s another interesting non-bowl projection. The Commodores have the talent to certainly win as many games as they did last season, and they have one of the most favorable schedules in the country, featuring four non-power conference teams.
