Thurmond spent three coaching stints in the SEC at Kentucky, Texas A&M and Alabama.
The Wildcats went to three straight bowl games in each of his seasons in Lexington. His 2002 Crimson Tide team led the SEC in total defense. Eight Alabama players he either coached or recruited were NFL draft picks. Between his time at Alabama and Kentucky, Thurmond spent three seasons at Texas A&M.
After living in Birmingham, Ala., Jordan left the ground zero of SEC Nation to head south to Florida to tell the unique stories of the renowned tradition of SEC football. In his free time, his mission is to find the best locales around.
