Mississippi State takes over college football’s throne at No. 1 in both polls

It’s never been more fun to be a Mississippi State football fan.

A third consecutive win over a Top 10 team, this time defending SEC champion Auburn, was more than enough to convince coaches and media members Sunday that the Bulldogs are the nation’s best team, placing them atop both major polls.

For the first time in program history, Mississippi State’s No. 1 in the Coaches and AP Poll, the culmination of spirited play and near flawless execution on the national stage through seven weeks of the season.

The Bulldogs are one of five teams in college football history to ever beat three Top 10 teams over three straight weeks.
