After every weekend of games, you always hear about the performances of stars like Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper. But there are also the performances you don’t hear as much about, coming from some under-the-radar SEC players…the sleepers.

Who were the best of the Saturday Sleepers from Week 8? Take a look.

TERRENCE MAGEE

LSU’s senior tailback had been a complementary piece in the Tigers’ first seven games, but he had a career night in LSU’s 41-3 win over Kentucky Saturday night. Magee carried the ball nine times and rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-point win, and he caught three passes for 44 yards to aid the passing game as well. Magee had 217 yards rushing and 33 yards receiving entering Saturday’s action. The senior averaged more than 14 yards per touch against the Wildcats, padding his season stats as LSU climbed back into Sunday’s updated rankings.

VINCE SANDERS

Ole Miss completed just 14 passes for 203 yards in its 34-3 win over Tennessee, and four of those completions and 108 of those yards went to went to Sanders. The senior wideout has been one of many productive wideouts in the Ole Miss offense, but Saturday’s performance was his best showing of the season. He tied for the team lead in completions, led the team in yards by 65, and caught a 39-yard touchdown in the second quarter to put the Rebels ahead 7-3 at the time. Ole Miss never looked back after Sanders’ touchdown, proving his performance to be even more impactful than his gaudy numbers indicate.

HAROLD BRANTLEY

Much has been made of Missouri’s star defensive end tandem of Shane Ray and Markus Golden, and for good reason, but Brantley has quietly had a productive three-week stretch along the Tigers’ defensive line. Brantley finished tied for third on the team with six tackles, and recorded a sack for a third straight game in Missouri’s win over Florida on Saturday. As Ray and Golden continue to occupy the attention of opposing offenses, players like Brantley will have opportunities to step up and make plays in one on one match ups. That’s exactly what Brantley has done in recent weeks, and his big game against Florida helped lead Mizzou to a 29-point win in a game in which it was held to fewer than 120 yards of offense.

MICHAEL WASHINGTON

It’s tough to imagine a Saturday Sleeper coming out of South Carolina’s game against FCS foe Furman, but Washington fits the bill perfectly. Washington, a defensive end, had offers from South Carolina, North Carolina State and Clemson coming out of high school, but instead elected to enlist in the Marines. Following his military service, Washington, now 27 years old, joined the South Carolina football team a walk-on this season. He started Saturday’s game against Furman and registered his first career takeaway with a fumble recovery in a 41-10 win. Washington’s story is an uplifting one, and his stellar play on Saturday helped South Carolina snap a two-game losing streak.
