The SEC has produced more current NFL players than any other conference in America, and many of the Southeast’s former stars have continued to shine at football’s highest level.

Here are the best performances by SEC alums throughout the NFL in Week 8 action last weekend:

OFFENSE

  • Peyton Manning: This guy seems to be establishing permanent residence on this list. Manning kept his hot steak alive, throwing for 286 yards and three touchdowns. He was virtually flawless in the Broncos’ 35-21 win over the San Diego Chargers on Thursday Night Football.
  • Arian Foster:  The former Tennessee Vol dominated the Tennessee Titans yesterday racking up 173 total yards and three touchdowns. His 151 rushing yards marked the second 150-yard plus game of the season for Foster. His outstanding performance led Houston to a 30-16 lead.
  • Eddie Lacy: With every passing week, Eddy Lacy looks more and more like a big-time NFL running back. He now plays a big role in the passing game and even hauled in a huge 67-yard reception. He finished with 59 rushing yards, along with eight receptions and 123 receiving yards. Lacy’s big performance on Sunday Night Football wasn’t enough for Green Bay, who fell to the New Orleans Saints 44-23.
  • Mark Ingram: Forced into the starting role thanks to injuries to Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram took full advantage of the opportunity. He was arguably the player of the game for the New Orleans Saints, rushing for 172 yards and one touchdown.
  • Jeremy Maclin: Easily his best game of the season, Jeremy Maclin recorded a 12 reception, 187 yard and two touchdown performance against the Arizona Cardinals. Although the Eagles lost, Maclin continues to develop a rapport with quarterback Nick Foles and is easily the Eagles’ No. 1 receiver.
  • Brandon LaFell: The former LSU Tiger exploded for his best performance of the year against the Chicago Bears Sunday. LaFell hauled in 11 receptions for 124 yards and one touchdown. The New England wide receiver corps has often been criticized this season, but LaFell is emerging as one of Tom Brady’s most reliable and explosive options.

DEFENSE

  • CJ Mosley: The Baltimore Ravens linebacker continues to impress in his rookie season. Yesterday, CJ Mosley recorded his third straight game of double-digit tackles and his fourth of the season. He finished with 13 total tackles and one interception.
  • Justin Houston: Although Houston only recorded five tackles yesterday in the Chiefs’ 34-7 victory over the Rams, he made the most of his opportunities. He sacked Austin Davis three times yesterday and played a key role in a shutdown defensive performance by the Chiefs.
