Alabama running back Damien Harris met with the Tuscaloosa media on Monday ahead of the No. 1 Crimson Tide’s showdown with Tennessee this weekend.
Harris spoke about his improvement over the off-season, making plays on offense and coming out of the gate fast, among other things.
Most notably, though, he mentioned that he smokes cigars annually.
Harris implied that Alabama beats Tennessee every year, so he’s been able to smoke one every year since he’s been on campus.
This is his third full season with the Crimson Tide.
I asked Damien Harris how often he smoked cigars: “I’ve smoked 2 now … So I guess annually.”

Q: “How often do you smoke cigars?”
Damien Harris: “Uh. I think I’ve smoked them two times. So, annually.”

Victory cigars are a tradition dating back many years in the Third Saturday in October. The winning team usually smokes them after the game, along with the fan base.
Harris knows Alabama will get a desperate Tennessee’s best shot on Saturday.
“We know that every team we play is going to give us their best shot,” he said. “Games like this weekend, we consider this a rivalry game. They’re going to give us their best shot and then some.”
Alabama and Tennessee kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
