Alabama sets date, location for 2022 matchup with Gonzaga

Alabama was a menace to the top teams in men’s college basketball last season. Though the Tide didn’t have a great year following a 2020-21 season that saw them win both the SEC regular-season and tournament titles, they did knock off 3 of last year’s Final Four teams.

The Tide beat Houston and Baylor, but perhaps their most impressive win was in December out in Seattle in a “neutral-site” game against Gonzaga. In that matchup, the Tide picked up an incredible 91-82 win.

Now, during nonconference play this year, the Tide will play the Bulldogs once again, this time in a “neutral-site” game at Legacy Arena in Birmingham in the C.M. Newton Classic. As you can see below, the game will take place on Dec. 17:

Alabama men's basketball will officially face Gonzaga on Dec. 17 at Legacy Arena, the C.M. Newton Classic just announced.

Season ticket holders will have first access beginning July 11. Tickets for general public will be available later in the fall

Alabama finished last season 19-14 overall, losing to Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. We’ll see if this season goes better for Nate Oats and the Tide.
