Brandon Miller is getting his feet wet in NBA action, making his Summer League debut for the Charlotte Hornets Monday night. The No. 2 overall pick and star from Alabama finished the night with 18 points but had some struggles throughout.

Over the first 3 quarters, Miller had just 6 points while struggling to find a rhythm. Fortunately, he scored 12 of his 18 points in the 4th quarter while shooting 5-of-11 from the field.

Some of Miller’s struggles included 6 turnovers and 7 fouls in the game. He also finished the night with 5 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and a block in 34 minutes of action.

After the game, Miller addressed the 98-77 loss to the San Antonio Spurs and getting settled into NBA action:

“I’m a little frustrated because I don’t like to lose, but I had fun out there,” Miller said per Kendra Andrews with ESPN. “Seeing a different environment from the college experience was fun. I think I was relaxed as far as emotions. Just let the game come to me, make all the right plays and just be there for my teammates… We got the jitters out, so we’re going to be good.”

At the end of the day, it’s not unusual for any young player to struggle while adjusting to a new level of competition. The good news is Miller provided plenty of positives to build on for the early steps of his career.
