Brandon Miller has played his last Summer League game. The Charlotte Hornets announced Thursday that the No. 2 overall draft pick from Alabama has been shut down, citing a coach’s decision.

Miller played in 3 Las Vegas Summer League games and 2 California Classic contests in his first professional offseason.

Charlotte’s decision comes after Miller’s breakout performance on Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers. Miller had 26 points in the game, bringing his Vegas Summer League average to 17.3 points per contest. He also averaged 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in those 3 outings. The club presumably wants to avoid risking injury to its top pick.

Summer League action wraps up its 10-day Sin City slate on Monday, July 17. The 2023-24 NBA regular season is set to tip off in October.
