Brian Robinson is doing well, according to the latest update from Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera, who added that he visited with Robinson and it was “kind of a relief.”

Rivera said “there is no timeline” for Robinson’s return but sounds optimistic, per JP Finlay of NBC Washington. “He’s a heck of a young man.”

Rivera added that the Commanders held a team meeting on Monday morning, and the message was “hang in there” because there are heavy hearts thinking about Robinson. Rivera said he was impressed with how the players responded.

Robinson was the victim in an attempted robbery or carjacking, and the former Alabama player was taken to a hospital with what the team called non-life-threatening injuries. The team said in a statement staff members were with Robinson at the hospital.

Robinson, a third-round draft pick, impressed in the preseason, and was expected to start at running back for the Commanders, as he was in line to win the job over incumbent Antonio Gibson.
