Bryce Young explains why he did not opt out of Sugar Bowl vs. Kansas State

Bryce Young explained earlier this week why he decided not to skip Alabama’s Sugar Bowl matchup against Kansas State. Simply put, he’s worked too hard to stop now; At the end of the day, it’s another chance to play football.

Young says this in a time where that line of thinking is not the norm, especially not from a top 5 pick. Star players across the country, such as Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt and Clemson’s Myles Murphy, are both skipping high end bowl games in fear of an injury setting fire to millions of dollars in potential draft stock.

Ole Miss’ Matt Corral injured his knee in the Sugar Bowl last season and fell in the draft because of it. To many, it’s just not worth the risk.

Not for Young.

“I wanted to finish with my teammates this season, again there’s been a lot of work and a lot that’s gone into this year. I get another chance to play with my brothers, that’s really how I look at it. It’s a great opportunity for us as a team.”

Alabama takes on Kansas State at noon on New Year’s Eve on ESPN.
