Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher kept coaches, fans and media transfixed on their comments from Wednesday night to Thursday morning, and they brought wild reactions from coaches around the SEC, including those who worked with Saban and Fisher being especially amazed.
The comments had many circling Oct. 8 for the game in Tuscaloosa, and also recalling last year’s 41-38 stunning upset by the Aggies as 17 1/2-point underdogs last season.
Bruce Feldman of The Athletic reached out to current and former SEC coaches for their reaction, and many were shocked at the events.
“Those two just called each other’s wives fat,” one coach said, as the conversation also shifted to name, image and likeness rules and regulations. “If you ain’t doing 85 (miles per hour) in a 55, you are going to get your ass beat in today’s world.”
Of course, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin, who is one of the few coaches to speak publicly about an issue like this, candidly said, “I kept saying ‘This can’t really be happening, Is this real life?’
What did other college football coaches think of the dispute between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher?
