At the end of the third quarter of Thursday night’s preseason finale, the Buffalo Bills trailed the Chicago Bears by a wide 27-3 margin.
No one would have been surprised if the Bills had folded up shop and coasted to the end of a meaningless loss, but that’s not what QB AJ McCarron was about to let happen.
Over the final 15 minutes, McCarron led the Bills on an incredible four scoring drives, guiding his new team to an impressive 28-27 victory. Yes, it’s the preseason and the wins don’t count, but McCarron said he was confident heading into the fourth quarter (via NewYorkUpstate.com):
“I told them, ‘Watch this. This is going to be legendary,'” McCarron said.
As you can see in the video below, the game-clinching touchdown came with 13 seconds left, when McCarron found WR Keith Towbridge in the end zone:

An ensuing two-point conversion was unsuccessful, but the Bills managed to prevent a last-second field goal from taking place.
Will this help McCarron’s quest to win the starting job? With Nathan Peterman and Josh Allen on the roster, everything is still up in the air.
