SEC fans love to hate on former Florida State QB Danny Kanell, and on Sunday morning, Kanell gave Alabama fans plenty of fuel for their fires.
In his updated top-eight rankings, Kanell had the Crimson Tide outside the top four, ranking them fifth — between No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 6 Ohio State.
As you can see below, Kanell has Georgia at No. 1, but then has undefeated Alabama all the way down at No. 5:
Some networks get blinded by brands. I don’t. #DKtop8 on who earned it so far
1. UGa
2. ND
3. Clem
4. OU
5. Bama
6. OSU
7. OkSt
8. Wisc— Danny Kanell (@dannykanell) October 29, 2017
Naturally, Kanell’s interesting rankings and omission of Alabama from the top four drew criticism from the media, including ESPN’s Booger McFarland:
If u list a Top 4 without Alabama or Georgia in it ….. u should probably not be listing a Top 4

Kanell then felt the need to respond to McFarland, saying it’s just his opinion and not to get upset about his rankings that don’t matter, all the while getting upset about his rankings that don’t matter:

When you have three one-loss teams ranked ahead of undefeated Alabama, you’re going to have some explaining to do.
Kanell shouldn’t have been surprised that his new rankings ruffled some feathers on Sunday morning.
