Emil Ekiyor Jr. had a decision to make after 4 years in Tuscaloosa. The redshirt junior offensive lineman is making it 5 years, returning for one last season of Alabama football.
Ekiyor shared his 2022 plans on Friday evening, tweeting a note:
“Two important factors that I have always held close since arriving at Alabama are: earning my degree and walking across that stage as an Alabama alum, and ending my Alabama career with a championship win. With that being said, I’m ready to run it back for one last season in Tuscaloosa to handle unfinished business. Roll Tide!”
References to Alabama’s “unfinished business” were also found in notes from 3 of Ekiyor’s teammates who announced their 2022 decisions Friday: D.J. Dale, Henry To’o To’o and DeMarcco Hellams. Safety Jordan Battle opted for saying “the job is done” in his social media announcement.
After playing in 2 games in 2018 and redshirting, Ekiyor has played in 33 games over the last 3 seasons, taking the starting job at right guard.
