Evan Neal didn’t appreciate the reports leading up to the NFL Draft that he had medical red flags, and that teams had re-evaluated their profile of the Alabama offensive tackle.
Neal, who was drafted by the New York Giants at No. 7 overall, responded to those reports on Thursday night.
“I played 41 games at Alabama, I didn’t miss a game, I didn’t miss a snap, I only missed one game due to COVID, so that’s your answer there,” Neal said, per the Tuscaloosa News. “I was kind of shocked a little bit but at the end of the day, I just control my controllables.”
When the Giants selected Neal it made it 14 straight years in which the Crimson Tide has had a first-round selection, tying the record set by Miami from 1995-2008.
“The Giants are going to get a guy that is going to come in every day and work his hardest to be the best that he can be and just ultimately help the organization win,” Neal said.
Neal was known for his versatility at Alabama, but is expected to play right tackle with the Giants.
He played left tackle (2021), right tackle (2020) and left guard (2019) with the Crimson Tide.
“I’m comfortable at all the tackle spots for sure,” Neal said.
