Greg Sankey makes ‘Dumb and Dumber’ reference about narrative around SEC and the Playoff
Greg Sankey made use of a great “Dumb and Dumber” quote when it came to the SEC’s chances of being left out of the College Football Playoff.
On Friday, Sankey appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and McAfee and the rest of the crew of course loved that Sankey knew the quote.
However, there’s a legitimate chance that the SEC could have no representatives in the Playoff. Georgia would have to lose to Alabama in the SEC Championship first, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
Losing some non-conference games earlier in the year might turn some off, but that isn’t the case for Sankey. He argued that Playoff resumes are evaluated during the whole season, not just 1 week.
“As I recall, the line ‘So you’re saying there’s a chance?’ came from Dumb and Dumber, which may be a good description,” said Sankey. “People that know and understand football don’t have a doubt about our status. Sure, we lost some non-conference games, but this is not a 1-week evaluation this is a season evaluation.”
“‘There’s a chance’ came from ‘Dumb and Dumber’ which may be a good description of that observation.”

Regardless of what happens, Sankey was confident that both Alabama and Georgia will earn a shot of making the cut. He believed that the SEC has proved it deserves at least 1 team in the playoff.
“I think the winner of this game tomorrow, in fact, both teams, depending on the outcome will be fully under consideration,” Sankey. “I look at all the analytics, and this is like the 1 conference championship game where there’s a lot of doubt. No matter what comes we deserve at least 1 team in the College Football Playoff.”
