A.J. McCarron still trying to avoid focusing on swirling trade rumors

As the 2017 NFL Draft approaches at the end of this month, one of the hot names on the trade market is former Alabama QB A.J. McCarron, who currently serves as Andy Dalton’s backup for the Cincinnati Bengals.
However, in light of former Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo’s retirement on Tuesday, many think McCarron’s trade value may have improved as there are now fewer quarterbacks on the market.
According to AL.com, though, McCarron, who won three national championships with the Crimson Tide, is preparing as if he won’t be traded before the start of the 2017 season:
“I can’t control it,” McCarron said. “That’s the tough part in this business, but it is what it is. You just focus on what you can control, and everything will work out.
“I don’t think anything. I just go with what I know, and as of right now, I’ll be in Cincy.”
Romo was strongly linked to the Houston Texans before Tuesday’s announcement, so maybe that team will make a trade for McCarron.
That remains to be seen, though, and for now, McCarron will prepare for his fourth NFL season in Cincinnati until he’s told otherwise.
