Jameson Williams injury: Detroit Lions determine status of former Alabama WR for Week 1

Jameson Williams was a first-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2022 NFL Draft, going No. 12 overall.
That showed just how much the Lions liked him, as the former Alabama star wide receiver tore his ACL in the National Championship Game in January.
The Lions are going to show some patience with their first-round rookie, though. Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, GM Brad Holmes has already determined that the speedy receiver will miss Week 1:
Lions first-round pick Jameson Williams (ACL) will miss Week 1. Detroit not putting public timetable on return. 'We're going to be very smart with him," GM Brad Holmes told me. "He's in a good place right now." https://t.co/2SkIcEtae1

Holmes said the team is going to be “smart” with Williams, and there’s no current timetable for his return to the field.
Once he does return, though, the Lions hope he can show the skills he showed with the Tide last year, when he recorded 79 catches for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns.
