When Louisiana native Landon Collins committed to Alabama over LSU on national television, it made his mother very upset.
While Collins’ mother may not have seen the greatness of Saban at that time, Collins clearly did and does to this very day.
So what is the key to Saban’s greatness? Collins was asked that very question during a recent appearance on ESPN’s NFL Live and this is what he had to say:
“As a coach, he represents his players as a players’ coach, I would say,” Collins said of Saban. “He makes sure all his coaches, all his players are (better off ) underneath him as a player, as a father and as a man. He tries to teach us to be a man and a great player all at one time. He does it all.”
Coming from one of the most successful defensive backs in the NFL, that has to mean a lot to Saban and his Alabama program. And for recruits? When making their difficult decisions, they can trust Saban’s program will not only develop them on the field but off it based on Collins’ comments on NFL Live.
