Latest Coaches Poll helps SEC reach historic mark not matched since 2012

The undefeated seasons for Alabama and Georgia have generated something not seen in five years.
The latest Coaches Poll has just dropped following Week 9 action and the SEC leads the way with the top two spots. Alabama and Georgia are the first SEC teams to be ranked first and second in the country since Alabama and LSU did the same thing in the 2011 season, which resulted in a rematch in early 2012 when No. 2 Alabama knocked off No. 1 LSU. That came in a year when Oklahoma and Stanford were in the mix in the BCS. LSU beat Georgia 42-10 in the SEC Championship Game.
This year’s Alabama and Georgia teams appear on a collision course for the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta in December.
The SEC has the No. 1 and No. 2-ranked teams nationally for the first time since the 2012 season.
