Lincoln Riley took the USC job this offseason, leaving Oklahoma to head west. But, you’d be forgiven if you assumed he worked for the Alabama recruiting staff.
On Monday, Riley was discussing Alabama transfer LB Shane Lee, saying he’s been a huge part of the defense’s growth this spring.
Riley compared Lee’s impact to when QB Jalen Hurts transferred to Oklahoma from Alabama:
Lincoln Riley says Alabama transfer LB Shane Lee has been “instrumental” in the team’s growth these last few months. Raves about his leadership. Compares his impact to QB Jalen Hurts when he came to Oklahoma via Alabama. #USC

Yeah, Alabama’s recruiting staff is going to eat that quote up. Basically, Riley is praising the culture and the types of players Nick Saban produces in Tuscaloosa.
Lee recorded 86 tackles and 4.5 sacks as a freshman for the Crimson Tide in 2019. Injuries have hampered him the last 2 seasons. We’ll see if he can stay healthy and return to dominance in Los Angeles.
