Alabama and Georgia will meet in the SEC Championship game Saturday in the matchup that the college football world has been wanting to see.

The Bulldogs emerged early in the season as the nation’s best team, thanks in large part to what has been a historically dominant defense.

On Monday, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban was asked about the Georgia defense and he offered that unit some strong praise.

“Look, I think they are outstanding,” Saban said during his weekly press conference. “And maybe they have simplified things, but they’re still really aggressive and do a lot of very, very good things that have made them the best defense in the country.”

Saban, however, added that it would be a mistake to assume that the Bulldogs have gotten to where they are based solely on their defense.

“This is a complete team, and it’ll be a tremendous challenge for our players to play well,” Saban said. “That’s obviously the goal.”

The SEC Championship game between the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs will be played on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The game will begin at 4 p.m. EST and be televised by CBS.
