Alabama football (3-1) is preparing to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Week 5, looking to gain its fourth win of the season.
Nick Saban met with the media after Wednesday’s practice, discussing a number of topics, including the status of linebacker Deontae Lawson and offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson.
“Both guys were unable to practice today, so that will put them in the category of very questionable,” Saban told reporters.

Lawson is dealing with a sprained ankle, which Saban revealed in his postgame press conference Saturday. The players behind Lawson will be important in this instance.
“Obviously, the depth at that position is going to become critical for us if Deontae can’t go,” Saban previously told reporters. “So, we’ll keep working with those guys and try to get them ready to go this week.”
So far in the season, Lawson totals 26 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks. Ferguson has been a depth piece on an Alabama offensive line that has had its issues in 2023.
Alabama and Mississippi State are set to kick off at 8 p.m. CT on Saturday in Davis Wade Stadium.
