Is Georgia closing the gap on Alabama?

Allie LaForce, who is the lead sideline reporter for the SEC on CBS, seemed to think so when she joined Mark Heim on WNSP 105.5 FM’s “The Opening Kickoff” show Wednesday, as this report from AL.com details.

“They are absolutely getting closer to Alabama,” LaForce said. “I don’t know if they are there yet. Their defense is so physical. They are so fast. They can make plays. They have a great established backfield. They’re quick on the outside.

“They are absolutely moving closer. I think Alabama’s depth is so unprecedented,” she added. “I still think Alabama’s the better team. I think Georgia will give them a game. There’s no one better in the second half than (Alabama) and they make adjustments quickly.”

LaForce said Alabama’s biggest challenge moving forward is “mental focus,” the report noted.

Both the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs are undefeated this season. The Bulldogs, which are coached by former Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart, are ranked No. 3 in the country. Nick Saban’s Tide is No. 1.

The teams seem to be destined for a clash in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 2.
