WATCH: Alabama K Andy Pappanastos shares hilarious story of Nick Saban trash-talking him

Before the start of the 2017 season, Alabama K Andy Pappanastos changes his jersey from No. 92 to No. 12.
In a funny twist of events, that’s the number Alabama coach Nick Saban wore in college, and he made sure to point that out to Pappanastos with some hilarious trash talk.
As you can see in the video below, shared by reporter Charlie Potter on YouTube, Pappanastos recounts what Saban told him about the jersey switch (fast-forward to the 4:40 mark):
“He obviously knew that (the jersey change) was going on, but he came up to me in practice and gave me a hard time,” Pappanastos said. “That’s the number he wore in college. And he’s like, ‘I’m a lot better athlete than you.'”
It’s not too often we hear about Saban’s humor, but he’s quite a funny guy and lets it show on occasion. Obviously the jab at Pappanastos was good-natured fun, and the kicker laughed it off.
That’s still a lot of pressure, though, knowing he’s wearing his coach’s old number.
