Arkansas announces Saturday spring scrimmage no longer open to public due to weather

Arkansas football’s Saturday practice, a televised scrimmage, will no longer be open to fans due to weather. The team announced Saturday morning that the practice is being moved inside Walker Pavilion due to lightning in the forecast and will be closed to the public.

Due to lightning and storms, today’s practice will be inside and unfortunately closed to public.

Arkansas’ team website says that the practice will still be streamed on SEC Network+. It is set for 11 a.m. CT/noon ET.

While most spring games are the last of 15 spring practices, the Hogs have plans to keep practicing next week. Saturday’s practice is No. 12 of the spring session, with things wrapping up next Saturday.

Saturday’s scrimmage was to be televised in place of a traditional Red-White Spring Game. Earlier this week, Sam Pittman said the plans for the scrimmage are for players to “thud” when it is “1s vs. 2s” (primarily veterans) and allow for full tackling to the ground when it is “2s vs. 3s” (mainly younger players). Arkansas’ spring schedule was altered with a Garth Brooks concert scheduled at Razorback Stadium next Saturday, April 23.
