Drew Greenlaw had an early exit from the San Francisco 49ers’ “Sunday Night Football” game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
In the second quarter, Greenlaw was flagged and tossed for helmet-to-helmet contact with Chargers QB Justin Herbert. Cris Collinsworth can be heard questioning the call, noting that 49ers DB Jimmie Ward’s play on Herbert appeared to send Herbert into the collision with Greenlaw.

Former NFL coach Tony Dungy, an NBC studio analyst, chimed in that he did not agree with Greenlaw being thrown out of the game. Herbert left the game but is set to return in the 3rd quarter.
Greenlaw, a starter on the 49ers defense, entered Sunday’s game with 58 tackles, including 30 solo stops. Against the Chargers, he had logged 7 tackles before his ejection.
Greenlaw is in his 4th NFL season. He was selected by San Francisco in the 5th round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Arkansas.
