Sam Pittman addressed the injury status for preseason second-team Associated Press All-American tailback Rocket Sanders going into Arkansas matchup at No. 12 LSU.

Sanders has been out since sustaining a left knee injury in Arkansas’ 56-13 season-opening victory vs. Western Carolina.

During a Wednesday press conference, the Razorbacks’ head coach said while Sanders is making strides, it’s too early to know if he’ll suit up for the SEC West showdown.

“I don’t have an update on his status, but I can tell you that he ran well yesterday and is progressing faster than what I thought he might,” Pittman said. “But I don’t know whether he’ll be able to play or not.”

The junior tallied 42 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 1. Last season, Sanders amassed 1,443 yards and 7 touchdowns last season en route to capturing First-team All-SEC honors.

Arkansas dropped its first game of the season with a 38-31 loss against BYU in Week 3. Arkansas led 31-21 after an AJ Green rushing score in the 3rd quarter. However, BYU closed the contest on a 17-0 run, capped off with the game-deciding touchdown pass from Kedon Slovis to Chase Roberts.

LSU leads the all-time series 43-23-2 against Arkansas and won last season’s matchup 13-10 in Fayetteville.

Arkansas at LSU is slated for Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. EST and will be televised on ESPN.
