Auburn opens its football season with a matchup against Washington on Sept. 1. Then, a little more than two months later, the two schools will meet on the basketball court.
The Tigers announced on Thursday that they have scheduled a home-and-home men’s basketball series against the Huskies. They will host the Pac-12 school on Nov. 9. Then, they will travel to Washington for a matchup on a date to be determined in 2019.
“We have worked so hard to create an environment that is worthy of Power 5 conference teams being willing to come to Auburn,” Tigers head coach Bruce Pearl said in a press release. “Auburn Arena has as good of an environment as there is in college basketball right now. For Coach [Mike] Hopkins and Washington out of the Pac-12 to be willing to get into a home-and-home series with us is huge.”
The two schools have only played once in men’s basketball. The Huskies beat the Tigers, 59-29, during the 1947-48 season.
Before conference play begins during the upcoming season, Auburn will also play N.C. State and take part in the Maui Invitational for the first time in program history.
