Auburn commit nails state-record field goal in high school football game

Auburn has had its share of standout kickers come through the program. Anders Carlson is currently holding down the role and is considered one of the best in the country at his position, and hopes to join brother Daniel, currently with the Las Vegas Raiders, in the NFL in 2022.
The Tigers have Anders Carlson’s successor coming in next fall, and that’s Alex McPherson, a senior at Fort Payne High School in Alabama who pledged to Auburn on July 6. Kicking runs in the McPherson family, too: his brother, Evan, is a rookie with the Cincinnati Bengals after playing collegiately at Florida.
And Alex McPherson may have given Tigers fans their best look yet at what might be to come when he arrives on campus. Fort Payne on Friday visited Oxford and lost 41-13, but watch below as he drills a 61-yard field goal:

As noted in the tweet above, that’s an Alabama state record, set by none other than Evan McPherson in 2017 in his senior year at Fort Payne.
By all accounts, Auburn looks as if it has a nice talent coming into the ranks.
