Charity events are a way of life for two of the best running backs in SEC history.

Georgia legend Herschel Walker and former Auburn star Bo Jackson each appeared at the Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama’s annual luncheon Thursday. AL.com reported that they fielded several questions, and gave their opinions on how their respective programs have done this season.

The 1982 Heisman Trophy winner said he expects Auburn to win the big game at Jordan-Hare Stadium next week.

“For all the Alabama fans out there, it’s going to be a very tough Iron Bowl,” Walker said. “Alabama has a really good defense, Auburn has a really good defense. They’re playing in Auburn. I think Auburn is going to beat Alabama. Auburn beat Georgia, they whupped ’em. … I saw Auburn play Clemson in the (second) game, and Auburn played well, but they made a lot of mistakes. Auburn’s been playing great since then, they’ve got a great, great team. I think Auburn and Georgia will meet back up in the SEC championship.”

Jackson, the 1985 Heisman winner, was not as prolific in discussing the state of the SEC. Candidly, he said he would rather be hunting than watching college football, and did not make a pick in the Iron Bowl.

“I wish Auburn all the success in the world, but next week will only be my second game of the year,” Jackson said. “I love the sport, I love Auburn, but I only go to two games a year and that’s because my wife makes me. That’s what I used to do for a living. … Auburn, I expect them to finish out the season on a winning note.”
